Jacob Beck received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Knox College in Galesburg, IL in 2003, and in 2009 earned a Certificate of Music Therapy from Marylhurst University in Portland, OR. He has been practicing as a Music Therapist in Portland, OR, Orlando, FL, and Osceola, WI since January 2009, after receiving extensive internship training with Earthtones Music Therapy Services in Portland, OR. He is nationally board-certified in his field and is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and The Wisconsin Chapter for Music Therapy. He has worked as an independent contractor of Music Therapy services with a variety of populations including children with autism; well elderly; elders with dementia; people with HIV/AIDS; and adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities.
Upon relocating to rural Wisconsin in October 2010, he found the opportunity to open Hawthorn Clinic Natural Health Care and Music Therapy with Dr. Brooke Beck, beginning Music Therapy work in hospice care, elder care, the mental health field, and with children and adults with developmental disabilities. He is excited for the journey of owning a private practice. Jacob is a published author; his work is featured on voices.no, a worldwide publication devoted to Music Therapy theory and discourse.
Jacob lives with his wife, Brooke, who is a Naturopathic Doctor and Classical Homeopath, and also co-founder and owner of Hawthorn Clinic; they share a beautiful home with an almost four year old son named James. Jacob enjoys the outdoors, hiking and walking, especially when not hacking through the prickly ash. Jacob is at his core a musician with a passionate interest in songwriting and home recording, and is an amateur rock and roll historian and devoted appreciator.
